Match Report |
The 2s made it back to back wins by comfortably smashing East Devon out the park. The game started positively with Plymouth having most of the possession and chances but couldn’t quite find that final touch in the D. The catalyst for the first goal was East Devon taking the lead from a breakaway which led to a short corner which was eventually bundled over the line after initially being saved by Ben Blundy. Within 5 minutes more pressure led to a delightful through ball from Jevon Rimmer set up Sam Blondon who calmly slotted into the bottom corner after being given a more attacking role. Despite further good spells of possession this was how the first half remained. The second half was much improved partially down to the fact players could now see the ball without being blinded by the sun (the skipper having lost the toss), and early pressure resulted in Plymouth taking the lead within 2 minutes of the restart. This pressure continued and with brilliant interplay down the channels and along the base line the goals kept coming, I lost track of the order but know Steve Wilson scored two of the lamest goals you will ever see, George Thomas scored on his 2nd team debut, Jevon scored a deserved goal after assisting a fair few and John Whitfield scored a hat-trick. In amongst these East Devon did score a second but that was just down to the defence trying to give Ben something to do in goal. MOM was George Thomas and DOD John Whitfield (despite scoring 3 he put the match ball over a 30ft fence from 2 yards onto a road, attempted to trip an opposition player and made a number of typical Whitty comments). Mention must also go to Rob Thomas who has obviously had fun adding to the blazer this week. |
