Match Report |
The 2s reign at the top lasted just one week. They still remain unbeaten but will feel they probably should have taken all three points against a very physical Minehead (NFL physical at times!!!). The game started reasonably open with both teams struggling to retain possession but the breakthrough came from Sam Blondon (not Willetts) this time who calmly slotted past the opposition keeper. Minehead equalised in the first half from a short corner that the defence should have dealt better with. The second half continued like the first with the 2s dominating possession but with no real end product. That was until Sam Blondon doubled his tally with a well worked short corner. Minehead looked dangerous on the counter and took advantage of the short corners they won, again scoring mid way through the second half. They would have added two more if it wasn’t for the heroics of Chris Ryan who saved one attempt off the line after it was slipped under Torran and calmly plucking a drag flick out of mid air which was goal bound. The 2s did finish strongly but just couldn’t find that cutting edge in the final third, which wasn’t helped with Minehead parking the bus so to speak in front of goal. A first half open goal miss led to John Aked being voted DOD (picture to follow hopefully) and MOM was Alex Morrish on his returning debut. |
