Match Report | A quiet, sleepy first half produced a few goal-scoring opportunities that were all squandered and several excellent situations near the D that a calm head would have turned into opportunities to take the lead. Instead we ended the half one goal down. Massively flattering a weak opposition. After some tactical realignment and some home truths at half time...the team bust into action in the second half and put Darts firmly on the back foot where they deserved to be. Bit by bit the pressure built and as is so often the case this brought confidence, good opportunities and goals. The first a super individual effort by JStormont esq. picking up the ball around the 25, dodging numerous ugly swinging stick tackle attempts and a thumping shot from the top right corner of the D into the bottom left corner of the goal. Phil then clinched the win with a lovely passing hockey move involving a burst down the right wing from Rhiannah Long, a deft under arm slip inside to Jamie Cooper, some nifty stick work from him and a driven ball to the back post for an easy tap in for our leading goal scorer. Phil then wrapped it up with a chip shot at the team's first short corner, that dropped beautifully onto the backboard. Job done. |
